Message from the President

Our history began on March 12, 1899, when our founder, Kojiro Murakami, opened the “Murakami Yoran-Ten” at the age of 22 and began selling synthetic indigo. From that starting point, Murakami Sangyo has built 126 years of progress and achievement.

The business later became “Murakami Shoten,” and with incorporation grew into “Murakami Sangyo Co., Ltd.” Expanding beyond Ehime to Imabari, Uwajima, Kawanoe, Kochi, and later to Tokyo and Nagoya. In 2024, we were pleased to open our long-awaited Osaka branch.

Overseas, we have established strong bases in Shanghai and Thailand, providing chemical products with the same dedication as in Japan. In 2022, we further expanded by establishing a U.S. subsidiary, where we are building partnerships with local agriculture to take on new challenges and create future opportunities.

In today’s world of rapid change and uncertainty, driven by growing geopolitical risks, it is more important than ever to remain true to our core values. By appreciating the everyday blessings, embracing change, and continuing to take on challenges, we believe we can thrive in the era ahead.

Guided by our founding spirit of “trust and harmony,” we will continue to move forward together with our community as we approach our 130th anniversary. I deeply appreciate your unwavering support and look forward to your continued encouragement.

CSR

Since our founding in 1899, Murakami Sangyo Co., Ltd. has dedicated itself to contributing to the sustainable development of society through honest and responsible business activities worldwide.

Today, as challenges surrounding human rights, labor, and the environment grow more complex, and as the importance of ESG, the SDGs, and carbon neutrality rises, society’s expectations for corporate responsibility are greater than ever.

In response, we have articulated the Murakami Sangyo Management Philosophy from the perspective of corporate social responsibility that we and our business partners are expected to uphold.

To put this into practice, we have established the Murakami Sangyo CSR Guidelines, which serve as our commitment to fulfilling responsibility together with our partners and to creating a more sustainable future.
