History

1899

March

The first-generation Kojiro Murakami founded Murakami Yoran-Ten in 3, Kiya-chou, Matsuyama City.

The store became an authorized dealer for the manufacturer of synthetic indigo, Badische Anilin und Soda Fabrik, and simultaneously began selling industrial chemicals.

1915

May

Sumitomo Head Office Fertilizer Manufacturing Plant (now Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd.) began manufacturing chemical fertilizers, and the company became an authorized dealer in Ehime Prefecture. 

1917

March

The company name was changed to Murakami Shouten.

1918

August

The company became an authorized dealer for Suzuki Shouten Co., Ltd. (now Ajinomoto Co., Ltd.) and started selling wheat starch.

1921

November

An office was established along the coast in Ote-dori, Imabari City.

1926

May

The Imabari Representative Office was reorganized into a branch office and established in Matsumoto-chou, Imabari City.

June

Mitsui Mining Co., Ltd.'s Miike Dye Works (now Nippon Coke & Engineering Co., Ltd.) began manufacturing synthetic indigo and becomes an authorized dealer.

1928

June

Started selling products from Nippon Soda Industry Co., Ltd. (now Tokuyama Co., Ltd.) across the four prefectures of Shikoku.

1929

June

Became an authorized dealer for Nihon Nohyaku Co., Ltd in Ehime Prefecture and started selling pesticides.

1933

July

Became an authorized dealer for DKS Co., Ltd. and started selling oil products.

1941

August

Participated in the capital of Nihon Special Pesticide Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (now Bayer CropScience Co., Ltd.) and became an authorized dealer in Ehime Prefecture, beginning sales of pesticides.

1946

March

Constructed a new head office building and relocated to the current location.

1949

February

Constructed a new branch office at 162 Niban-chou, Imabari City.

1951

February

Opened the Uwajima Branch Office on Oenoki-dori in Uwajima City.

July

Established Murakami Shouten Co., Ltd. with a capital of 5 million yen.

August

Relocated the Uwajima Branch Office to a newly constructed building at 1-316, Sakaemachiminato, Uwajima City.

1952

March

Became an authorized dealer for Asahi Denka Kogyo Co., Ltd. (now ADEKA Co., Ltd.) in Ehime Prefecture and began sales.

June

Started selling fertilizers from Sumitomo Corporation (now Summit Agri-Business Co., Ltd.).

October

Became an authorized dealer for Osaka Soda Co., Ltd. (now Osaka Soda Co., Ltd.).

March

Started selling hydrogen peroxide from Santoku Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (now Nippon Peroxide Co., Ltd.)

Opened the Kawanoe Liaison Office at 1894, Sakae-machi, Kawanoe City.

June

Upgraded the Kawanoe Liaison Office to a sales office and relocated to a newly constructed building at 4064, Minato-dori, Kawanoe-chou, Kawanoe City (now Shikoku Chuo City).

Started selling pigments from Dai Nippon Ink Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (now DIC Co., Ltd.).
